Personally, breakfast is my most important meal of the day! I?m the type of person who likes getting up at 6am in the morning to enjoy my breakfast leisurely while catching up on blog posts and news. However, there are days when I have to hurry off and not have time for any breakfast (I?m sure that many of you can relate to this! :P). On days like these, I rely on my trusty on-the-go breakfast drink/smoothie. Chuck everything in a blender, let it do its job, pour it in a travel mug and you?re good to go!
During my first undergraduate year, I'm always rushing off to classes with no time to spare. If you were to bump into me, I'd have a packet of breakfast drink on one hand and a granola/muesli bar on the other! However, after weeks and months of drinking them, I got sick of the flavours (I alternated between banana and strawberry) and I didn't get the caffeine hit that I needed. So, I started experimenting with my blender and haven't bought a single packet of breakfast drink since then!
Each time I make these, it?ll be a little different from its predecessor. On some days, there will additional frozen blueberries. Or an extra tablespoon of peanut butter. Or Milo instead of coffee. This recipe is flexible and feel free to make it according to your own liking!?Banana & Coffee Breakfast Drink
- 1 frozen large banana, slices into chunks
- 1 cup soy milk
- 1 tablespoon dry-freeze instant coffee
- 1 tablespoon honey
- a healthy dash of cinnamon (optional)
- Blend and drink!
I'm extremely peckish in the morning and I'll be starving the whole entire day if I don't get my breakfast right! So if you're like me, plop a Weet-bix/a handful of cereal into the drink and enjoy with a spoon!
What's your on-the-go breakfast??
